Big Cartel is for someone selling a small number of things they made. The catalogue is small on purpose, the setup is short, and the whole product is shaped around an artist or maker rather than a retailer. Where most platforms treat a tiny shop as an entry tier on the way to something larger, this one treats it as the destination.

The no-fee claim holds up. Its help centre states plainly that it charges no transaction fee on orders, and the deductions that appear on payment statements are sales tax remittance rather than a cut.

The trade-off is limits that are real and arrive early. A custom domain and custom pages both need a paid plan, so the free tier does not publish on an address the reader owns. There is no blog, appointments are absent, and support is people rather than a bot but with priority handling reserved for the top tier. This is a product to choose deliberately for its narrowness, not one to grow into.
