About Glide
Glide's premise is that most internal software already exists as a spreadsheet, and what people want is a usable front end for it. Point it at one and it reads the columns, generates a working layout and hands back something you can adjust rather than something you have to assemble. The free tier ships around forty ready components, so the first hour is spent editing rather than building.
Screens come in fixed types and are filled from that published set, which keeps a beginner productive and puts a ceiling on how the result looks — design scores 2. Permissions, roles and a documented data export are all present, and the export is well documented down to which columns it omits.
What you give up is search entirely. The platform blocks search engines from indexing apps outright and advises promoting one from a separate website instead, and there is no way to publish your own content in a second language — the localisation feature translates the vendor's interface, not yours. For a directory of website builders those are two hard limits rather than gaps, and they hold growth at 2. Nothing publishes at all until you pay, and a domain you own is gated above the first paid tier at $49 a month.
