Both of these turn a written description into working software, and on a demo they look interchangeable. The decision between them is not about the quality of what comes back. It is about what happens when you want it on your own domain.
Who publishes the result
Lovable hosts what it builds. It registers the domain on your behalf, writes the DNS records and issues the certificate, so a finished application reaches a public address without an account anywhere else.
v0 does not. Its own instructions hand deployment to a separate hosting company, then send you to that company's console and on to your registrar's DNS. That company documents its free tier as non-commercial, which means a business publishing this way needs a paid plan there in addition to the plan here. No single pricing page states the total, and that is the honest reason v0 is scored at the bottom of this directory for both ease and value.
If you already hold that hosting account and work in it daily, none of this is friction. If you do not, it is the whole project.
What the output is for
v0's generated code is closer to what a developer would write by hand — a real component library, a documented design system, conventions someone else could pick up. It is aimed at people who will read it, and it exports to a repository cleanly.
Lovable's editor is a conversation. Adjusting a page means describing the change, and the documentation teaches that vocabulary rather than a layout model. What comes back works and looks generic, which is the right trade when the point is a working tool rather than a distinctive one.
Both meter you. Lovable sells credits with top-ups; v0 draws down dollar-denominated credits daily. In both cases the monthly figure is a floor.
Which should you choose?
Choose Lovable if you want an application at your own address without acquiring a second vendor, and you are willing to describe changes rather than make them.
Choose v0 if you are comfortable in a codebase, already deploy to the hosting service it targets, and want output you can read, own and take away. Price it with the hosting plan included, not without.

Lovable
Turns a written description into working software it also hosts for you.

v0
Writes interface code a developer would recognise, then hands off the hosting.
