Wix is built on the assumption that a small business does not know yet what its website will need to do, so everything is included and switched on when it becomes relevant. Bookings, a store, forms, marketing email and a blog are all parts of the same product rather than separate purchases, and the editor lets an element sit anywhere on the page rather than only inside a slot the template defined.

That breadth shows in how a site starts. Answering a few questions produces a complete draft with pages, copy and images already in place, and a domain can be bought and attached without leaving the product. Support is staffed around the clock on every paid plan, including the cheapest, which is unusual and matters most to the reader who has nobody else to ask.

The cost of putting everything in one product is an editor with a great deal in it, and a genuine dead end if the site outgrows the platform: there is no way to take the site elsewhere. Content has to be rebuilt by hand somewhere else. For a business that expects to stay put that is a price worth paying, and for one that does not it is the whole argument against.
